How many times have you been in a Latin Club? , or gone to a Wedding or a Christmas party? Or any fun occasion where dancing is in order?

First, you see everyone dancing and having fun.  Second, your body begins moving by itself. You got that desire to joining them; but, at the same time, you realize that you do not know how to dance. (You wish you could)
Worse yet! Sometimes, you miss the chance to meeting those special people you've always wanted to have fun with; but you were too shy to start a conversation or simply say “hello” or ask them their names.
Well, Dancing is the answer to overcome this frightening experience. Dancing is, in fact, the first step of social activity. Good dancing is considered a lifetime investment in fun, poise, confidence, improved personality, friendly gathering and meeting new friends. Beyond these, dancing is a superb physical conditioner - providing fun, without working at it!
Salsa Dancing opens up a wonderful new world of togetherness and a thriving year-round social calendar.

My name is Manuel. I will share with you my personal Salsa Story. I walked into a Salsa Latin Club, one winter night.  I looked around and saw all these fine-looking people dancing and having fun.  Among them, there was this charming lady that I’ve seen somewhere else before. She has type of persona that makes one head turns to take a double look.  Do you know what I mean? I wanted to meet and tell her, at least, how charming and gorgeous she was. I wanted also to ask her where she had learned how to dance like that. Man! Every part of her body moved in unison with the music. It was a real treat to see her dance.
I saw her walking towards the bar counter after finishing dancing.  I thought to myself. What a perfect opportunity to meet her.
I approached her and said hello. I introduced myself. My name is Manuel.  She looked at me and said. Oh! Manuel, My favourite Bachata song is paying. Make me dance. My heart started beating crazily and, all of a sudden, I realized, once again, that I did not how to dance any Latin dance. The most, I knew of this kind of dances was during my trips to Cuba, Dominican Republic, Venezuela while vacationing  out there; but aside from, Latin music is something that I have never considered in my life. I knew Nada, zero dancing!
Honestly, I could not tell the difference between a salsa, a Merengue or a Bachata. She insisted. Come on! I would love to dance with you. She added. That song brings me fun memories. You remind me a fellow that I danced that song with in the Dominican Republic last year.
I shrunk my shoulders and responded. I am sorry. I don't know how to dance. She sadly murmured. You should be. Too Bad! She turned around and walked away. She joined her friends and went back to the dance floor.

From that moment on, I said to myself. That is itI will learn how to dance Salsa. I will take lessons. Next days, I ordered a couple of Salsa Video DVD from the internet. After receiving them, I began watching the moves and the turn-patterns.
I paid particular attention to the warm-up session, Dance Techniques, Body Motion. I began conditioning my body for salsa dancing. I twisted my body in difference directions until I could fairly imitate the instructors in the DVD.
I just knew that “Footwork” or shining as they called it, will be good for my brain and specially my memory and my coordination.

I started getting familiar with salsa, Merengue, Bachata and cha-cha rhythm then the Basic steps and finally, the fundamental figures and Simple Variations.
At first, I could not get the ONE (first beat of the music)
I went back to the internet and ordered an ear-training CD. (Every beat is counted, the tempo of the music accentuated and each instrument in a Latin band is described)
After a few days, from receiving it, I began listing to all the Salsa songs and Latin rhythm. I understood the Merengue, the Bachata and the salsa rhythm. I learned how to count. All this, was a pleasurable experience, though.

Those DVD allowed me to have a good idea of what I wanted to learn. They actually helped me to set-up my goals.  A month later, I enrolled in a salsa class with Tony Rausseo from Hot Latin Salsa Dance studio.
I enjoyed it so much that I enrolled in a second class. This time was "A cardio Latin Class” This Cardio Latin class helps gain flexibility, endurance and above all sharpens my reflexes.  Now, I go to my salsa class once a week, watch my DVD and listening to my ear-training CD as much as possible. I also go out to the Salsa Clubs once a week to practise what I have learnt in the class. All this is part of my commitment to improve my dancing, which in turn, I believe, will increase my lifespan.

Three months later, I went back to that Latin Club where I saw that charming and beautiful girl. My surprise was as great as my joy when I saw her again. She was as pretty as ever. My legs were literally shaking. I wouldn't know, whether, it was because of emotions from seeing this charming and beautiful person once again or from he hot Latin salsa rhythm that I have come to love so much now. I am still wondering. I shook my head off to get out of that state of mind. I walked towards her as calmly as possible. I said Hello Salasera! I invited her to dance. She accepted gladly. With nice smile on her face, she asked me. Do I know you?
I think I've seen you before. I smiled back and put my arms around her and danced the night away. I really, had the time of my life that night.
That, entire goodness and happiness I experienced that divine night came about upon my decision of learning how to dance. Salsa dancing has definitively changed my life.
